Due to Coronovirus (Covid-19) I work via telephone, online, outdoors and in my office in Mid Devon with infection control measures in place.
I offer a calm, supportive, non-judgemental and discreet space for you to explore what is important to you right now in life, building on your self-awareness and resilience.
Counselling enhances self-awareness and from that, allowing new possibilities to emerge and the changes you want to take place. As an experienced counsellor, I will work with you to gain renewed self-awareness with strategies to enhance your balance and wellbeing in life.
My Counselling Approach
As an Integratively trained Counsellor, I have trained extensively in Person Centred, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapies (CBT) and Professional Coaching. I will tailor counselling sessions to suit your individual needs.
I am also a trained EMDR Therapist, a relatively new therapy developed in the 1980s by Dr Shapiro. EMDR can be an extremely successful and effective treatment for anxiety, stress, trauma and disturbing experiences, with the goal of reducing your distress in the shortest period of time.
With new insight and self-awareness, you will learn how to manage your wellbeing outside of the therapy room. Learning to understand your stressors, understanding the impacts on your life is empowering. With this new awareness, you can move forward with renewed energy.
To complement my client work, I offer mindfulness exercises; research todate shows it helps to slow the mind, grounding you in the NOW enhancing your wellbeing.
Some of the Issues I work with include
Overwhelm, anxiety, depression, panic, stress, bereavement, loss and unhealthy relationships. I find the issues clients bring to counselling are as individual as they are.
Life changes or transition can cause stress, we all manage it differently; this can impact on our health, relationships and balance e.g. stress related to weddings, divorce, separation, menopause, infertility, becoming a new parent, retirement, relocation to a new area, university life, career or work situations etc.
Personal and private issues can be difficult to express to friends and family. Our work will help you to move towards accepting and supporting yourself without fear of judgement.
As a Supervisor for counsellors, I currently work with counselling students within placement, qualified counsellors and other professionals requiring supervisory support.
I offer a free introductory session, this gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have, explore whether counselling is right for you right now.
